Joris holds a Master in Econometrics and a Ph.D. in Economics. In 2011 he founded MIR.
In 2009 and 2010, dr. Joris Meijaard was the co-founder and managing director of the HOPE Entrepreneurship Centre at Erasmus University and the executive director of the Holland Program on Entrepreneurship. HOPE is collaborative effort by Erasmus University, Delft University and Leiden University to advance entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial attitudes among students and faculty (www.getstarted.nl). In this function he worked with Hendrik Halbe, Harmen Jousma, Hans Huijgens, Eric Claassen, Philip Hans Franses, George Yip and entrepreneurs like Michiel Muller, Stephan van Gelder, Oscar van Veen and many others.
Between 2000 and 2009, Joris Meijaard was responsible for EIM’s contract research in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He was a member of EIM’s management board. In this function he worked closely with Yvonne Prince, Peter van Hoesel, Roy Thurik, Jeroen de Jong, Wim Verhoeven, Andre van Stel, Sander Wennekers and many others.
Joris has worked at Erasmus University for 17 years (1993-2010). He has taught courses in Micro-economics, Industrial Organization, Econometrics, Innovation Management and New Venture Creation.
He has been on the supervisory boards of the MBO-level Metaalvakschool Nieuwkoop, the Rotterdam Entrepreneurship Week, the child care company KDV Polderpret and the employee union MEVE at Panteia. At present, Joris is a member of the community council at Baarland and the board of directors at Stichting Facetscholen.
